Challenge
A financial institution requested us to help modernise their operations by offering their APIs to external parties. The goal was to improve their service delivery channel and attract new partners with a holistic suite of digital capabilities.
Approach
- API market scan. A benchmark of API portfolios offered by market industry leaders in similar service segments. The customer articulated their API strategy and mapped their business offering to the API-based service portfolio.
- Scoring matrix. A scoring matrix considering potential business value, implementation effort, and risks — built so it can be re-used in different areas of the customer's company.
- API prioritisation strategy. A prioritised backlog and roadmap built by applying the strategy and the scoring matrix to the API Inventory.
Outcome
Our assistance allowed the client to better articulate their API strategy internally and select the first range of services to be offered through the API portal. The flexible framework established enables our client to adjust their strategy in response to market trends and the ever-evolving customer demands.
